Sylvia holds a Bachelor of Psychology in University of Toronto (Canada) in 2003 and a Master of Psychology (Counselling) in SooChow University (Taiwan) in 2008.

Sylvia is a licensed counselling psychologist with a profound commitment to suicide and self-harm prevention and intervention. Over the course of her 14-years career, she has dedicated expertise to providing professional counselling services to individuals at risk of suicide and survivors of suicide loss in Taiwan hospital institutes. Moreover, she has become a beacon of support for over 600 clients through specialised clinical modalities.

Sylvia employs a unique approach, combing Somatic Experiencing and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), tailored to address the distinctive needs of clients dealing with multiple deliberate self-harm behaviours or the aftermath of suicide loss. Moreover, she conducted individual and groups sessions, applying DBT to individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and severe depression and anxiety disorders. Simultaneously, she utilises Somatic Experiencing therapy to aid in the healing of prolonged grief disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In addition to clinical experiences, Sylvia provides approximately 1,250 hours of individual counselling annually to both hospital patients and general clients. Her commitment extends to the training of Counselling Psychologist intern students in the counselling psychology program, contributing to the growth of the next generation of professionals in the field.


Sylvia’s commitment to knowledge dissemination is evident in conduction of over 40 speeches, training and workshops for professionals, government workers, volunteers, and students annually, covering topics such as DBT theory and implementation, trauma-informed counselling, grief counselling and suicide assessment and prevention skills.

As she reflects on her journey thus far, Sylvia is fuelled by the belief that through compassion, specialised expertise, and continuous learning in latest, effective psychotherapy field, she can make a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by grief and loss, depression, and disturbed by emotional difficulties. She looks forward to further contributing to this critical field and expanding the reach of building and restructuring initiatives related to clients’ mental health, helping them to build lives worth living.

Administratively, Sylvia is actively involved in preparing and managing case studies and suicide risk assessments. She plays a crucial role in organizing and coordinating conferences and trainings, ensuring the seamless operation of the counselling service she contributes to.

Sylvia is a nature and dog lover who finds peace and harmony in listening to the soothing sounds of water and music. Movies and books about psychology and philosophy are her favourites.

Sylvia provides therapy in English, Mandarin, and Hokkien.

Sylvia is the Board Member of the Somatic Experiencing Association and the Caring and Counselling for Loss Association in Taiwan.
She also contributes to the Victims Support association, Suicide Prevention Centre (MacKay Memorial Hospital), Suicide Prevention Centre (Far East Memorial Hospital) in Taiwan.
